Red snapper season in state waters to close Nov. 15

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has announced red snapper fishing in state waters will end Nov. 15.

The closure of the fishery in state waters, which extend nine nautical miles from shore, means no red snapper can be taken until the state season reopens. TPWD officials said that will occur in January.

Fishing for red snapper in federal waters beyond the nine-mile limit remains closed until summer.
