Police arrest man accused of filming woman in restroom

Brownsville police have arrested a man accused of filming a woman in the restroom while she was using it.

Mario Berrones is charged with invasive visual recording, which is a state jail felony.

Martin Sandoval, spokesman for the Brownsville Police Department, said Berrones set up the recording the device at a residence.

The incident occurred on Jan. 19. Berrones was arrested on July 12.

Sandoval said detectives worked the case and found enough probable cause to execute an arrest warrant on him. The victim contacted the police and the detectives to which led to an investigation.

Under Texas Penal code 21.15: A person commits an offense if, without the other person’s consent and with intent to invade the privacy of the other person, the person: photographs or by videotape or other electronic means records, broadcasts, or transmits a visual image of another in a bathroom or changing room.

Berrones was arraigned on the charge and his bond was set at $7,500.
