Trump’s RGV visit now includes security briefing, wall tour

Former President Donald Trump and Gov. Greg Abbott will be visiting the Rio Grande Valley next week to participate in a border security briefing and to tour a portion of the border wall, according to a media advisory.

Abbott’s office confirmed details Thursday of the upcoming visit, as first reported by The Monitor.

“Governor Greg Abbott will host 45th President Donald J. Trump for a border security briefing with state officials and law enforcement and a tour of the unfinished border wall on Wednesday, June 30 in the Rio Grande Valley,” the media advisory read.

The briefing will take place at the Texas Department of Public Safety headquarters in Weslaco, and it will be followed by a tour of the border.

According to a town hall invitation, which was shared with The Monitor, an event is also scheduled for 2:15 p.m. at the DPS hangar located at the South Texas International Airport in Edinburg. The invitation-only event will be hosted by Fox News’ Sean Hannity.
