Nurses are more important than ever to saving lives.
With existing diseases continuing to impact the health of residents throughout the Rio Grande Valley, as well as the ongoing impacts of the late stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, Valley Baptist Health System is looking to recruit registered nurses, certified nursing assistants, and other allied health professionals with a passion for caring for those who need it the most.
Nurses and other allied health professionals are invited to apply for a wide variety of positions at both Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville and Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen.The hospitals are seeking professionals to work in a number of departments, including the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, and Labor & Delivery.
Stephen Hill, Chief Nursing Officer for Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen, said the variety of open positions throughout Valley Baptist Health System offers interested healthcare professionals many opportunities to follow their passion for caring for the local community.
“Our nurses are the backbone of our efforts to care for members of our community when they need us most, and for us it is a privilege,” he said. “Our nurses are remarkable every day, and we’re always looking for outstanding individuals to join our teams and our Valley Baptist family.”
To help interested professionals navigate the hiring process, Valley Baptist Health System has planned a number of hiring events for not only the month of June, but into July as well. Valley Baptist-Harlingen will host an ICU RN hiring event on Thursday, June 17 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., and additional hiring events for Emergency Department nurses, surgical services nurses, and registered respiratory therapists are planned for later in July.
Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville Chief Nursing Officer Michelle Aguilar said the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the Valley’s need for quality nursing professionals.
“While many aspects of our lives slowed down during the pandemic, the need for nurses to care for our community certainly did not, and our goal is to continue to provide safe, compassionate healthcare for our patients,” Aguilar said. “We want to provide job opportunities to those who are seeking rewarding careers in helping us fulfill that mission. These healthcare heroes will positively impact the lives of local residents each and every day.”
In-person hiring events will comply with CDC safety guidelines requiring masks and social distancing. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with members of the hospital system’s recruitment teams and hiring leaders and will learn more about available positions, as well as the market-competitive salaries, benefits, sign-on bonuses offered, and more about what makes Valley Baptist Health System an employer of choice.
