Hidalgo County daily COVID cases drop to 65

Hidalgo County reported just one additional death related to COVID-19 on Monday along with 65 new cases of the virus.

The county reported 28 of the new cases as confirmed and 37 as probable, bringing the total for the county to 85,206 cases, 56,534 of which are confirmed, 27,155 probable and 1,517 suspected.

Monday’s casualty was a man in his 50s from an undisclosed city.

The county reported 103 individuals in county hospitals with the virus, 40 of them in intensive care units.

Cameron County reported higher COVID-19 numbers Monday.

Officials there reported 184 new cases of the virus, bringing the total amount to 38,864.

The county also recorded seven new deaths related to the coronavirus, bringing the death toll to 1,588.

Monday’s fatalities were men and women from Brownsville, Harlingen and San Benito ranging in age from their 40s to their 80s.
