2 COVID-19 deaths reported in Hidalgo County, 172 new cases

Hidalgo County reported two new COVID-19 deaths and 172 new cases of the disease Thursday morning.

Of the new cases, 149 have been confirmed, 22 are probable and a single case is suspect.

The two deaths are of a McAllen man in his 60s and a woman older than 70 in Edinburg.

In addition to the new cases, the county also announced 102 people remain hospitalized with 40 in intensive care units, and another 246 people have been released from isolation.

These new numbers put total positive cases of COVID-19 reported in Hidalgo County at 85,141 with a total of 80,696 released from isolation. Total COVID deaths stand at 2,768.
