Hidalgo County reported three additional deaths related to COVID-19 on Tuesday along with 974 new cases of the virus.
The county reported 924 of the new cases as confirmed, 38 as probable and 12 as suspected, bringing the total for the county to 82,222 cases, 54,542 of which are confirmed, 26,425 probable and 1,255 suspected.
The three fatalities were all above the age of 50, two of them women and one man. They lived in Edinburg, Mercedes and an undisclosed location.
The county reported 163 individuals in county hospitals with the virus, 66 of them in intensive care units.
