NWS: Cold front will increase chance of wild fires

A cold front will move through South Texas on Wednesday bringing much drier air, that when combined with low relative humidity and high winds, will make fire conditions critical.

The National Weather Service in Brownsville says drought conditions continue to worsen, made especially dangerous by the recent freezes across the area.

A fire weather watch will be in effect for all of deep south Texas on Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Potential Threats/Impacts

· Relative Humidity: 25-60% mid-morning falling to 10-40 % in the afternoon

· Winds: Northwest 15 -20 mph, gusts to 25 mph

· Temperatures: Very warm to hot, Highs 84 -94

· Any fires that develop may spread rapidly

Forecasters say everyone should avoid any outdoor burning, avoid parking cars on dry grass and activities with open flames.
