Edinburg police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 73-year-old man and his 42-year-old stepdaughter who has a developmental disability and requires special care.

Police identified them as Frutoso Posada Jr., 73, and Maria Chapa, 42.

Police say a woman reported her brother and niece missing on March 7, telling investigators that she had not seen them for three weeks and had been unable to reach her brother, Posada.

She says she fears for their safety.

“Chapa is non-verbal and uses a wheelchair. Posada Jr. is an Army veteran, who also has medical issues,” police said in a news release Monday.

Posada’s sister told detectives that everything seemed normal during her last visit and that she believes they recently moved from Edinburg to the Pharr, San Juan, Alamo tri-city area.

Police said Posada drives a 2018 white Chevrolet Silverado with Texas license plate KNC-2210.

Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to call Edinburg police at (956) 289-7700.
