Cameron County reports 52 more virus cases

Cameron County Public Health reported Thursday afternoon an additional 52 COVID-19 cases, raising the total number of cases in the county to 37,879.

The new cases include three children ages 9 and under, and 16 people ages 10 to 19.

One resident age 80 to 89 was also reported.

The county health department did not report any additional COVID-19 related deaths, keeping the total at 1,532.

New cases were reported in Brownsville, Harlingen, Indian Lake, Los Fresnos, Rancho Viejo, San Benito and Santa Rosa, the health department said.

There have also been an additional 260 individuals who have recovered, raising the total number of recovered individuals to 33,652, the health department said.

As part of the COVID19 action response plan, Cameron County Public Health is conducting epidemiological investigations, contact tracing as needed and continues to monitor the situation, the health department said in a statement.
