Hidalgo County reports 816 new COVID-19 cases, 14 more deaths

Hidalgo County reported 14 more deaths related to COVID-19 on Wednesday along with 816 additional cases of the virus.

The county reported 544 of the new cases as confirmed, 269 as probable and three as suspected.

That brings the total number of cases in the county to 66,272, of which 45,055 are confirmed, 20,268 are probable and 949 are suspected.

Half of the new fatalities were above 70 while the other half ranged from their 40s to 60s.

Made up of eight men and six women, those individuals lived in Alamo, Edinburg, McAllen, Mercedes, Mission and Pharr.

The county reported 404 people with the virus being treated in local hospitals Wednesday, 147 of them in intensive care units.

Other parts of the Rio Grande Valley reported new coronavirus data as well Wednesday.

Cameron County confirmed 51 more cases of the virus and 10 new deaths related to it, while Willacy County reported eight new cases.
