733 new coronavirus cases in Hidalgo County as 13 more die

420 are in local hospitals

Hidalgo County reported 13 more COVID-19 related deaths and 733 new cases of the virus Monday morning.

The deaths include a man over 70 from Alamo, a man over 70 from Donna, a woman and a man over 70 from McAllen, a man in his 50s from Mercedes, a man in his 50s from Mission, a woman in her 50s and two men over 70 from Pharr, a man in his 40s and another in his 60s from Weslaco, and a woman and a man over 70 from undisclosed locations.

The 13 deaths raise the county’s death toll to 2,440.

Of the 733 new positive cases in Hidalgo County, 389 are confirmed, 326 are probable and 18 are suspected. The new cases raised the county’s total number of positive cases to 64,284, of which 43,948 are confirmed, 19,388 are probable and 948 are suspected.

As of Monday morning, there were 420 people in county hospitals with the virus, and 149 of those people were in intensive care units.

There were 680 people released from isolation Monday, raising that total to 59,486. The county has 2,358 net active cases.

There have been a total of 364,585 COVID-19 tests administered by the county, and 299,456 have had negative results.

LOWER VALLEY

Cameron County reported 12 additional COVID-19 deaths and 459 confirmed cases of the virus Monday.

The deaths include two women and five men from Brownsville, three women from Harlingen, a woman from San Benito and a woman from Santa Rosa.

Cameron County’s COVID-19 death toll now stands at 1,332.

The county’s total number of cases surpassed the 35,000 mark Monday. With the 459 new cases, the total number of confirmed cases in Cameron County is 35,300 as of Monday.

There were an additional 114 people who recovered from the virus, raising that total to 28,501.

Willacy County confirmed 19 additional cases of COVID-19 Sunday evening, raising the total number of cases there to 1,982.
