Hidalgo County residents have until Feb. 1 to pay property taxes, the county’s Tax Assessor-Collector Pablo Villarreal Jr. announced in a release Wednesday.

Normally, the deadline to pay property taxes is Jan. 31, but this year, that day falls on a Sunday.

Feb. 1 is the last day 2020 taxes may be paid without penalties and interest; mailed in payments are considered timely if postmarked by the aforementioned date.

Villarreal noted in the release, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, his office encourages constituents to take advantage of their optional payment options.

Residents can pay their 2020 taxes online at www.hidalgocountytax.org with either a credit or debit card, or an e-check. Individuals can also pay their taxes by cash or check at all Lone Star National Bank locations within Hidalgo County through Feb. 1.

If paying at the bank, Villarreal stated in the release, an original blue statement or online statement is required.

The office’s business hours are weekdays from 8 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. at the following locations:
