The City of Brownsville began handing out vouchers Wednesday afternoon for those wanting to receive a COVID-19 vaccination. They are hoping the vouchers will help eliminate the long lines that have plagued other cities.
In a Facebook post, the city says the vouchers are being handed out at the Brownsville Sports Park until supplies last.
Cameron County will administer 2,350 vaccines at the park beginning at 6 a.m., Friday, Jan. 15.
Anyone requesting a voucher must be in the vehicle during the distribution. They must also meet the following qualifications:
- 65 years or older
- 18 years or older with a underlying health condition
- Must bring a valid ID with full name and date of birth.
For more information, please call the Cameron County COVID-19 Helpline at (956) 247-3650. Motorists are asked to use the Old Alice Road entrance to the park.
