Four more virus deaths, 522 new cases in Hidalgo Co. 

Four more deaths linked to COVID-19 were reported in Hidalgo County on Thursday, according to a news release.

County officials also announced 522 new cases of the virus, of which 225 were confirmed, 292 probable, and five suspected.

The death toll there is now 2,149, with a total case count of 47,799, according to the release.

Additionally, there are currently 255 people with COVID-19 being cared for in local hospitals, of which 92 are in intensive care units.

Officials also reported that 56 people were confirmed to have recovered from the virus, leaving 2,576 active cases in the county.

Also on Wednesday, Cameron County confirmed one additional virus death, bringing the death toll there to 1,158.

County officials also reported 187 new cases of the virus, raising the total there to 28,113, according to a county release.

Additionally, 139 people were reported to have been released from isolation because of the disease. There have now been 24,542 people who have recovered from COVID-19 in the county.

In Starr County, 58 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed by county officials on Thursday, bringing the total active cases there to 490.

It was also confirmed that so far, 4,293 people have recovered from the disease in the county, and the death toll stands at 194.

Willacy County confirmed 14 more cases of the virus on Thursday, raising the total there to 1,488 according to county officials.
