Flood advisory issued for Cameron County

The National Weather Service in Brownsville has issued a flood advisory for Cameron County until 6:45 p.m. today.

At 3:46 p.m. CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.

Some locations that will experience flooding include Harlingen, San Benito, La Feria, Los Fresnos, Rancho Viejo, Rio Hondo, Palm Valley, Los Indios, Laureles, Olmito, Cameron Park, La Paloma, Downtown Brownsville, Port Of Brownsville, Southmost, Rangerville, Santa Maria, Brownsville, Primera and Combes.

Additional rainfall of 2 to 3 inches is expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
