Recycling Center reopens for business

The City of Brownsville Recycling Center has reopened for business after being temporarily shut because of COVID-19.

The center, located at 308 E. Elizabeth St., has resumed regular scheduled business hours, which are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.

Recycling services by GMS had been temporally paused to shift workers and resources to solid waste pick-up and management that would help with the increase in trash volume during COVID-19, the City of Brownsville stated in a press release. In addition, the decrease in interaction between residents and workers helped maintain a safe and healthy environment for everyone.
