PALMVIEW — The interim general manager of the Agua Special Utility District is in negotiations to officially accept the job.
Jose E. “Eddie” Saenz, who was appointed interim general manager in December after the resignation of their previous interim general manager, Richard LeFevre, is now in consideration for the job after the board of directors authorized the board president and attorney to proceed with negotiations.
Board Directors Homer Tijerina, Ricardo Ochoa and Ivan Sandoval were not in attendance.
LeFevre, Saenz’s predecessor, was the first to fill the general manager position since it was vacated by Frank Flores in 2015.
After Flores’ departure, the utility district was led by an executive director.
The first was Julio Cerda, who was hired while Flores was still general manager. After Cerda resigned in October 2016, he was replaced by Oscar Cancino, who then resigned in September 2017. The director position was then phased out and the manager post was brought back.
LeFevre was hired that month but left last December, citing health reasons.
Saenz has held dual roles as both general manager and district engineer since he was appointed to replace LeFevre.
“I think things are moving in the right direction, we just need to address some concerns in regards to the transition,” Saenz said of the negotiations.
That includes “finalizing what they would like to see from me and what I’d like to see in this position,” he said.
