Approximately 250 AEP customers on South Padre Island and Port Isabel are without electricity this evening and officials said the power outage is weather-related.

The outage was reported at around 5:40 p.m. today, said Eladio Jaimes, spokesman for AEP-Texas.

Jaimes said the majority of the outages are on the main strip and that AEP crews are working on the lines. AEP hopes to have power restored to all customers between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m.

“We are hoping it could be sooner,” Jaimes said.
