Edinburg sister fatally shot brother while playing with handgun, police say

Edinburg city spokesperson Ashly Custer said the arraignment has been postponed due to “the sensitive nature of this case.”

ORIGINAL STORY:

Edinburg police say they’ve arrested a 21-year-old woman after allegedly shooting and killing her 18-year-old brother Saturday.

Police said in a statement Sunday that officers responded to an apartment in the 1600 block of Tampa at around 11 p.m. Saturday in reference to a man who had been shot.

According to police, the woman who has not been identified yet shot her brother while allegedly playing with a handgun.

Police said she has been taken into custody pending further investigation.

They added that she suffered no injuries and there is no other suspect involved, referring to the shooting as an isolated incident and there’s no threat to the public.

She is set to be arraigned Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
