Man shot after altercation in downtown McAllen bar

The McAllen Police Department is investigating a reported shooting that resulted in one man being hospitalized early Sunday morning, according to a news release.

The release states the shooting occurred at the 1600 block of Beaumont Street though responding officers confirmed that the altercation originated at a bar known as No Manches Wuey, located at 211 S. 17th St.

According to police, a woman called to report that her boyfriend, a man around 21 years old, had suffered gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was rushed to a local emergency care facility, where he remains hospitalized. 

Police say one man is in custody and is pending charges while one other man is pending arrest and will also be charged.

The investigation is ongoing as a federal agency assists McAllen police in the probe.
