Sandbag distribution continues in Upper Valley cities until early afternoon

Although the threat of a tropical storm forming in the Gulf of Mexico is now lessened after the National Weather Service in Brownsville announced it’s disorganizing Saturday, cities across Hidalgo County are continuing with plans to distribute sandbags to its residents. 

HIDALGO COUNTY

Hidalgo County Precincts 2 and 3 are still providing sandbags while supplies last. 

Precinct 2 is distributing sandbags until 2 p.m. at Precinct 2 Field Operations Facility located at 4011 S. Veteran Road in San Juan. 

The precinct will be providing residents with four bags per household. Residents must provide a valid ID.

Precinct 3 will be distributing sandbags at two locations in the Mission area and one in Sullivan City for local residents.

Sandbags will be available until 2 p.m. in Mission at the following locations: 8310 W. Mile 7 Road and 2401 Moorefield Road. They will also be distributing sandbags at 1429 El Pinto Road in Sullivan City. 

Precinct 4 will be distributing sandbags until 5 p.m. at 1124 N. “M” Road in Edinburg.

Eight sandbags will be available per vehicle for residents and businesses. Residents and businesses must provide proof of residency in the area.

EDINBURG

The city of Edinburg is distributing sandbags for its residents from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Edinburg City Service Center located at 1201 N. Doolittle Road.

Six bags per household will be available to residents. All residents are required to provide a current utility bill with an address and ID. 

The city will also provide eight bags per business while supplies last. 

McALLEN

The city of McAllen is distributing sandbags for its local residents until 3 p.m. at the McAllen Recycling Center located at 4101 N. Bentsen Road. 

Six sandbags will be available for residents and 12 for business. All residents must bring proof of residency. Bags and shovels will be provided at the site.
