Police arrested an Austin Middle School student just before noon Thursday for posting terroristic threats on social media.

A release from Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD described the posts as “inappropriate.”

“PSJA PD immediately began investigating the threat for its validity,” it reads. “Although no weapons were found on site, the student in question was removed from the campus and was arrested for posting terroristic threats.”

So far seven individuals have been arrested for making threats against Rio Grande Valley schools in the wake of the Robb Elementary school shooting in Uvalde Tuesday.

“We thank Austin Middle School Administration and Staff, as well as the PSJA Police Department for their quick response after receiving the report,” the release said.

School and after school activities will continue as planned, it says, and there was no immediate danger or threat at the school.

“Safety is a shared responsibility, and we continue to encourage reporting any suspicious activities to law enforcement immediately,” the release said.

Local authorities are urging residents to report suspicious activities at schools to law enforcement or district personnel.
