According to a federal criminal complaint, Hector Miranda attempted to smuggle 4.6 pounds of cocaine through the Veterans International Bridge in Brownsville on Tuesday.

At the preliminary inspection lane U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers referred Miranda’s truck to a secondary inspection location.

During an inspection of the truck officers found 2 bundles of what appeared to contain cocaine within the floor of the truck cab, a federal complaint states.

While being question by the officers Miranda admitted to transporting the cocaine from Mexico into the United States, authorities said. Miranda said he was to be paid $4,000 to transport the drugs from Mexico to Charlotte North Carolina, according to the federal complaint.

Miranda also told the officers he is out on bond on a robbery charge out of Hayes County, Texas, officials said.

According to multiple media reports Miranda is accused of robbing a Valero store on Feb. 25th in Wimberley, Texas.
