146 new cases of coronavirus in Cameron County

A Harlingen man in his 60s is the latest victim to have died from coronavirus in Cameron County.

Health officials reported an additional 146 laboratory reports of COVID-19 on Tuesday which raises the total number of COVID-19 cases to 44,963 in the county.

There have also been an additional 167 people who have recovered, raising the total number of recovered individuals to 40,917.

The cities with the most cases on Tuesday were as follows:

Brownsville – 60
Harlingen – 37
San Benito – 16
Los Fresnos – 8
Port Isabel – 3

La Feria reported two new cases and Bayview, Olmito, Palm Valley, Primera, Rancho Viejo. Rio Hondo and South Padre Island each had one case.

County health officials say there were 11 reports of COVID-19 at the unaccompanied minor shelters and detention centers.

Overall, the total of number of COVID-19 deaths in Cameron County to 1,713.
