HARLINGEN — A woman was killed and two people, including a federal agent, were injured in a shooting outside a Harlingen convenience store Friday morning, police said.

Police said the shooting occurred in the parking lot by the store fuel pumps.

Police officers received a call at 10:42 a.m. in reference to an incident at 1800 West Tyler Ave. and the expressway frontage road at a gas station and Stripes store, according to Sgt. Larry Moore, Public Information Officer of the Harlingen Police Department.

Moore confirmed that three people were shot and a woman was deceased at the scene. The other two were men, both transported to a local hospital, one of them being a federal agent.

Moore said he could not confirm which agency the federal officer worked for, nor the immediate conditions of both men on Friday afternoon.

“No suspects are in custody and agents are gathering videos and statements,” Moore said.

Around 1:31 p.m. there was still an ongoing investigation at the crime scene. There was a Harlingen Fire Department truck in front of the Stripes as well as Harlingen Police Department trucks, with yellow crime scene tape around the area and investigators inspecting the area.

Noe Hinojosa, manager at the Burger King across the street, said he did not hear or see anything until authorities arrived.

As the afternoon went on, more local and federal agencies arrived, including the FBI.

Laura Ortiz, of Harlingen, arrived to eat at Burger King around 11:30 a.m. when authorities were already on scene. Ortiz said she heard two people were hurt and a woman was dead.

“She is still there,” Ortiz said.

“They said there was a shooting and they took a cop to the hospital.”

Moore said it is an ongoing investigation and more details are being gathered as time goes by.
