The Texas Department of Public Safety seized 2 pounds of cocaine and 20 pounds of marijuana after a pursuit for a traffic violation ended in a car crash Sunday, according to an agency news release.

DPS troopers attempted to stop 36-year-old Brandon Thomas Reed but began to pursue after Reed failed to pull over in San Juan.

DPS did not disclose in the release the reason for the initial traffic stop.

The pursuit ended when Reed crashed his white Chevy into another vehicle on the expressway in Pharr, where DPS recovered one aluminum wrapped bundle of cocaine and one plastic wrapped bundle of marijuana.

The Houston resident has been booked and remains jailed with a bond of $170,000.

Reed is charged with evading arrest, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.
