AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — The newly reported COVID-19 cases in Texas on Friday fell just short of the average for the past seven days.
However, the state’s daily COVID-19 death toll was significantly above average.
The 3,474 newly reported cases comprised of 3,201 new cases and 273 cases previously unreported fell just short of the 3,476 rolling seven-day average calculated by Johns Hopkins University researchers.
However, the state’s 83 new COVID-19 deaths reported Friday in Texas were well above the 61-death seven-day rolling average.
The state estimated 64,665 active COVID-19 cases Friday, with 2,917 COVID-19 sufferers hospitalized in Texas on Thursday, the most recent total available.
