Rotating outages have been discontinued by Brownsville Public Utilities Board until further notice or unless any changes arise with the approach of the another winter storm.
The Electrical Reliability Council of Texas or ERCOT, informed BPUB to suspended the rotating outages this morning, BPUB stated in a press release.
Although the rotating outages have been suspended, ERCOT could request BPUB implement them again.
Residents should gradually plug in appliances and other large equipment to avoid overloading the electrical transmission system.
In addition, residents are urged to:
Turn down thermostats to 68 degrees
Close shades and blinds to reduce the amount of heat loss through windows
Turn off and unplug non-essential lights and appliances
Avoid using large appliances such as ovens and washing machines
Wear warm clothing
