Cameron County to host COVID-19 vaccine clinics in Los Fresnos

Cameron County health officials will host two COVID-19 vaccinations clinics this week in Los Fresnos. Residents will need to collect a voucher in order to receive the Moderna vaccine.

The first clinic will be held beginning at 6 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 21, at the Los Fresnos Fire Dept. located at 100 Rodeo Dr. The first clinic will be held specifically for residents 65 and older. The second clinic will be held on Friday at the same location for those who fall within the Phase 1A and 1B priority groups.

Those groups include residents with cancer, chronic kidney disease, COPD, heart conditions, organ transplants, obesity, pregnancy, sickle cell disease or type 2 diabetes mellitus.

The vouchers are being distributed beginning at 8 a.m., Wednesday, at the Cameron County precinct warehouses below:

  • Precinct 1 Warehouse, 2050 S. Browne Ave., Brownsville
  • Precinct 2 Warehouse, 7092 Old Alice Road, Brownsville
  • Precinct 3 Warehouse, 26945 FM 510, San Benito
  • Precinct 4 Warehouse, 26623 White Ranch Road, La Feria

Everyone is urged to remain in their cars and fill out the registration forms ahead of time. Residents will not be allowed to be dropped off or walk up to the clinic.

“It is expected that Cameron County Public Health will receive additional COVID-19 vaccines in future weeks and will provide additional vaccination clinic updates as allocations are confirmed,” health officials said in a news release.
