Authorities investigating robbery at downtown Brownsville bank

Federal and local authorities are investigating a robbery at the BBVA Compass Bank in downtown Brownsville that occurred around 12:41 p.m. today.

FBI spokeswoman Michelle Lee stated the suspect presented a note to a bank employee.

A sign posted outside the bank today stated “Sorry, we are closed due to an emergency. This office will re-open as soon as possible.”

Lee reported no injuries were reported and authorities encourage anyone with information on the robbery to contact either the Brownsville Police Department or the FBI at (210) 225-6741.
