Brownsville mayor says 41 more positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the city

Brownsville Mayor Trey Mendez reported on his Facebook page this morning that 41 more positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Brownsville, with one death.

Mendez said the positives seem to be pretty evenly spread out among age groups. To date, Brownsville has seen 13,779 positives, with 560 deaths and 12,924 recovered.

He added the hospitals have seen a slight increase in hospitalizations over the past couple of days and our 7 day positivity rate has also increased to 16.33%. “Please continue to take precautions as you go about your daily life.”

The city will hold a virtual press conference at 1 p.m. today to discuss how the city is combating the virus.
