Twenty more Cameron County residents have died from COVID-19 related causes, the county health department reported Wednesday night.
This raises the total number of coronavirus-related deaths here to 797, Cameron County Public Health said in a statement.
The individuals included three people in their 40s, two people in their 50s, seven people in their 60s and eight people in their 70s.
Deaths were reported in Brownsville, Harlingen and Los Fresnos.
Also Wednesday, the health department said it has received confirmation on an additional 81 new coronavirus cases in Cameron County, raising the total number of cases here to 21,883.
The new cases include nine children ages 9 and younger, seven people aged 10 to 19, 11 people in their 20s, 14 people in their 30s, 10 people in their 40s, 10 people in their 50s, six people in their 60s, nine people in their 70s, two people in their 80s and three people in their 90s.
New cases were reported in Brownsville, Harlingen, La Feria, Laguna Vista, Los Fresnos, Port Isabel, San Benito and Santa Rosa.
There have also been an additional 355 individuals who have recovered, raising the total number of recovered individuals to 17,951.
Cameron County Public Health continues to work with nine nursing home facilities addressing the COVID-19 outbreaks, the health department said in the statement.
As part of the COVID-19 action response plan, Cameron County Public Health is conducting epidemiological investigations, contact tracing as needed and continues to monitor the situation.
