TSC to hold first virtual graduation

Texas Southmost College will hold its first virtual commencement ceremony celebrating graduates of the 2020 Spring Semester at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Originally scheduled for May 16, the in-person ceremony was transitioned into a virtual ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic in order to protect the health and safety of students, faculty, staff and the community.

TSC’s Virtual Graduation Ceremony will be a Facebook Live event, hosted on TSC’s Facebook page.

The Commencement Keynote speaker for TSC’s Virtual Graduation Ceremony is U.S. Rep. Filemon Vela, D-Brownsville.

TSC will graduate 413 students and 424 degrees will be awarded (11 of the 424 students received multiple degrees).

TSC will graduate the first cohort of dual enrollment students with associate degrees since the college re-opened in fall 2013. More than 30 dual enrollment students from Brownsville ISD, Los Fresnos CISD and Jubilee will be conferred associate degrees.

The second cohort of students of the Texas A&M-Chevron Engineering Academy at TSC will graduate during the virtual ceremony.

TSC had its largest enrollment of students in spring 2020 since it re-opened in fall 2013.
