Two of the most closely watched races in the state will be decided during Tuesday’s primary runoff election, in part, by voters in the Rio Grande Valley.

Runoff elections will be held Tuesday in the Democratic and Republican primaries, and election officials anticipate there will be a good turnout given the number of early votes that were cast during the one week of early voting.

Early voting ends Friday for the Democratic and Republican primary runoff elections.

McALLEN — With early voting in the Democratic primary runoff election fully underway, Ruben Ramirez, a candidate for Texas’ 15th Congressional District, cast his ballot as he continues to appeal to voters.

McALLEN — Among the voters who turned out to cast a ballot on the first day of early voting in the primary runoff elections was candidate Michelle Vallejo who is running to represent Texas’ 15th Congressional District against Ruben Ramirez.

Early Voting for the 2022 Primary Election Runoff will kick off on Monday and run through Friday.

The following is a list of early voting locations for the Democratic and Republican Primary Runoff Elections. The early voting locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Despite dying last month, Mayor Ramiro J. Rodriguez Jr. appears to have won a new term in Palmhurst, with unofficial election results placing the late mayor ahead with 50% of precincts reporting.

Mission Councilmember Norie Gonzalez Garza and current Mayor Armando O’Caña will be heading into a runoff election in the race to be the city’s mayor for the next four years.

McALLEN — Paul R. Rodriguez and Dalinda Alcantar appeared to be set to win places on the South Texas College Board of Trustees based on unofficial voting tallies Saturday evening, although Alcantar was trailed by opponent Michael Fallek by a relatively close margin.
