AUSTIN (AP) — Democratic U.S. Rep. Colin Allred, a former NFL player who broke with his party over President Joe Biden’s handling of the U.S.-Mexico border, won his Senate primary Tuesday to propel an underdog campaign to unseat Republican Sen. Ted Cruz.

Hidalgo County Sheriff J.E. “Eddie” Guerra on Tuesday night trounced his Democratic Primary opponent Frank Guerrero.

The race for who will preside over the 332nd state District Court in Hidalgo County appears to be headed to a runoff as election results continued to trickle in Tuesday night.
