NEW PHYSICIAN CARING FOR WOMEN, DELIVERING BABIES IN MID-VALLEY

Dr. Indira Perales joins Dr. Ronald Blanco’s
longtime OB / GYN practice in Weslaco

WESLACO – A new physician, Dr. Indira Perales Trejo, is caring for Mid-Valley women and delivering babies after joining the Valley Women’s Specialists obstetrics and gynecology practice in Weslaco.

Dr. Perales has returned to the Mid-Valley after completing a fellowship in surgical family medicine obstetrics at Baptist Women’s Health Center in Memphis, Tennessee.

Dr. Perales previously completed a residency in family medicine at the UTRGV Family Practice Residency Program at Knapp Medical Center in Mercedes and Weslaco. She was part of a pioneering class of physician residents — who were only the second class to graduate from the new program, which is the first graduate medical education program of its type in the Mid-Valley.

“I am excited to be back here in Weslaco, to help the women of the Mid-Valley with their healthcare needs,” Dr. Perales said.
Dr. Perales brings her highly-specialized training to the practice of experienced obstetrician-gynecologist Dr. Ronald Blanco, who has been serving Mid-Valley patients for 30 years.

“Our team here at Valley Women’s Specialists is expanding and is dedicated to serving our community,” Dr. Blanco said.
Dr. Perales is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Board of Family Medicine.

Originally from Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, in Mexico, Dr. Perales completed medical school at Universidad Autonoma de Tamaulipas in Tampico, as well as an international observer program at St. Joseph Medical Center in Houston. She is fluent in English and Spanish.

Dr. Perales has participated in various medical research projects, including projects involving obesity counseling, treatment of patients with endometriosis and infertility, and early detection of breast cancer. She has completed professional training in various areas of healthcare, including a neonatal resuscitation program (at Knapp Medical Center) and a certification program for advanced life support in obstetrics (at Baylor College of Medicine).

Dr. Perales’ hobbies include tennis, biking, walking, enjoying nature, building small pieces of furniture, cooking, history, music, and spending time with her family.

Dr. Perales is available to see patients at Valley Women’s Specialists, 1116 E. 8th Street, Suite #2 in Weslaco. For more information or to make an appointment, please call (956) 969-0999.
