Dr. Jennifer Sander Walt returns to Weslaco
to help patients with foot, ankle,
& other musculoskeletal conditions

Weslaco – Dr. Jennifer Sander Walt, an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in treating patients with foot and ankle conditions, has returned to her hometown of Weslaco and is now available to see patients at UT Health RGV Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, 1315 E. 6th Street, Suite 10, in Weslaco.

Dr. Walt specializes in orthopedic foot and ankle conditions. She recently completed a fellowship in orthopedic foot and ankle surgery at the University of Iowa Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation.
A graduate of Weslaco High School, she earned a bachelor of science degree in Biomedical Sciences from Texas A&M University, graduating magna cum laude.
Dr. Walt graduated from medical school at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston.
Dr. Walt then completed an Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at the Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, where she received the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society Resident Scholarship.
Also in Shreveport, Dr. Walt assisted with providing sports physicals for student athletes, as well as with medical coverage for the USA Volleyball Olympic trials and at a USA Boxing Olympics event.

Dr. Walt has co-authored two book chapters for an online medical database for physicians, StatPearls. This has included chapters on “Peroneal Tendon Syndromes” and “Flouroscopy Podiatric Assessment, Protocols, and Interpretation.”

In addition, she has published her research findings in a national medical journal, the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. Walt is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society.

Dr. Jennifer Sander Walt’s family is originally from the Mid-Valley and has been involved in healthcare for many years in the area. Both of Dr. Walt’s parents are pharmacists in Weslaco; her father Mike Sander has long operated Sander Pharmacy, while her mother Claudia Sander served for many years as pharmacy director at Knapp Medical Center.

In addition, all three of Dr. Walt’s siblings are physicians. Her brothers Dr. Michael Sander and Dr. Patrick Sander are orthopedic surgeons. Dr. Michael Sander also cares for patients at UT Health RGV Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in Weslaco. Her brother Dr. James Sander is a urologist at the UT Health RGV / Knapp Family Health Center in Mercedes.

Dr. Jennifer Walt’s office with UT Health RGV Orthopedics & Sports Medicine is open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Knapp Medical Arts Building in Weslaco. Dr. Walt is accepting new patients and accepts most insurance plans.
