Awards and honors at Harlingen CISD

HCISD Media Arts and Communications Academy seniors are ready for college. These talented students are heading to UT, Texas Tech, UTSA, TSC, TSTC, UTRGV, and Sam Houston State to study broadcast journalism, mass communication, and digital media. They participated in a college signing day held at the academy last week.

STEM² Preparatory Academy students displayed their projects to the community, parents, and staff at the Genius Time Showcase last week. The 6th through 8th grade students researched topics of their choice throughout the school year in preparation for this successful end of the school year event.

Ryan Velasquez’s poster was selected as the first place winner by Teens in the Driver Seat. His message and work of art was designed to remind teen drivers about the dangers of distracted driving. In addition to the recognition, Ryan won $1,000 for Harlingen High School South.
