Texas AG keynote speaker at chamber luncheon

HARLINGEN — Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton will be the keynote speaker for the Harlingen Chamber of Commerce’s Public Affairs Luncheon on Thursday, July 20.

Although Paxton has been in the news facing securities fraud charges stemming from alleged activities before he was the AG, he is unlikely to talk about any of that next week.

Based on previous speaker’s messages, Paxton is expected to focus his attention on his day-to-day duties, explaining to those in attendance what his position as AG entails.

The luncheon will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the TSTC Cultural Arts Center.

Every quarter, the Harlingen Chamber of Commerce plans a Public Affairs Luncheon for members and partners to network, have lunch away from the office and learn more about various interests in government and constitutional issues from influential speakers such as Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, Sen. Ted Cruz and Commissioner of the Texas General Land Office, George P. Bush.

Harlingen Chamber Director of Public Relations Jennifer Crist said the chamber represents all offices and agencies in Texas, regardless of the representative leading them.

“It is our duty to educate our membership on these agencies and current trends that are occurring here in Texas,” she said.

Texas’ 51st Attorney General, Ken Paxton, is devotion to America’s founding values, and as a man who has demonstrated enormous political courage throughout his service to Texas, according to his biography.

The son of an Air Force veteran, General Paxton is a stalwart leader with an abiding passion and deep-seated respect for our U.S. Constitution.

General Paxton is a defender of the free enterprise system and has worked to make Texas a beacon of economic prosperity, opposing burdensome government regulations that harm Texas jobs and stunt economic growth.

He was born in North Dakota while his father was stationed at Minot Air Force Base.

He graduated from Baylor University, where he served as student body president.

He was first elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 2002. In 2012 he was elected to the Texas State Senate.

“This luncheon will serve as a premier event for our membership to meet our state’s attorney general and learn more about issues impacting our community,” Crist said.
