Experience “A Taste of Por Vida Health & Food Fest”
‘The Monitor’s’ healthy living festival
McAllen, TX — February 28, 2017
There’s a common misconception that healthy food isn’t as tasty or appealing as more fatty and calorie-laden fare. Unfortunately this misunderstanding has resulted in the Rio Grande Valley being named one the nation’s most obese region, with a very high rate of diabetes.
AIM Media Texas is concerned about the well-being of the region and has taken the lead in promoting healthier living and better eating habits. As such, AIM Media Texas, in conjunction with The Monitor, is producing Por Vida Health & Food Fest, the only healthy food fest in the area. The event will be held Sunday, April 23rd from 11am to 3pm in Pharr. Admission is free.
Por Vida Health & Food Fest is a family-friendly event where attendees can sample the healthiest foods in the Valley, enjoy live cooking demonstrations from several well-known chefs, attend well-care informational seminars and motivational nutrition discussions, and participate in interactive exercise and dance sessions. Health screening will be conducted on-site, and the medical and business community will be offering their products and services.
The previously held 2014 Por Vida Food Fest was well received by the community. Chef Brian Morris of Relish magazine, who is actress Nicole Kidman’s former personal chef, entertained the crowd while preparing tasty and inspiring dishes that won’t break one’s budget or increase waistlines. Local chefs also conducted cooking demonstrations and the day was filled with fun ongoing activities for all ages.
